FEATURES:Toilets,
showers and wheelchair access. The area is a dog off leash area
between 4pm and 8am. Point Cartwright offers protection from
the north winds common in summer.
SURFING:When
the right banks a very nice clean beach break will form. Crowds
can often build. The point on the right swell offers a powerful
reef break with short but sweet rides. On larger swells a reef
further out can break, a west wind can create perfect waves.
Swell over 1.5 metres is for the experienced wave rider only.
FISHING:Care
should be taken when fishing on the rocks, as freak waves are
common. Cast long into the deep water for rare reef species.
Catches can be patchy.
WALKING:Take
the long flight of stairs to the beach. Stroll around the rocks
to Point Cartwright. Plan a walk at low tide to maximize rock
pools for exploring. Always be mindful of freak waves. |
