SURFING:Pincushion is generally not surfed due to strong tidal flows.
FISHING:Fishing is excellent. Fishing experience is necessary with strong tides and ocean waves providing a challenge for even the most seasoned angler. All river and beach species can be caught around this area. Bream are found all year round and are hooked close to the rocks, be prepared to loose some tackle. During winter months target large sea bream during the evening.
WALKING:20 minute walk through soft sand via the north shore (northern side of Maroochydore river) alternatively a short walk from Pincushion car park (southern side of Maroochydore river) will get you at the very least, a viewing point of pincushion island.
