FEATURES:Great parking and a nice walk along the river and out to the rock wall navigational light along a cement path for majestic views of Stradbroke Island and Surfers Paradise.
SURFING:Very nice clean wave during small swell, the wave refracts off the rock wall and there is usually a nice bank and a short peaky left. The experienced surfer has been known to paddle across the entrance for the some times larger South Stradbroke Island (The Other Side) waves. The current can be fierce so take care.
FISHING:The fishing options are endless. Come prepared with lots of tackle and a variety of fishing rods and rigs. Take a walk along the river away from the mouth to find some nice spots for the less experienced. Fish towards the mouth or if no luck there try of the end of the rock wall into the beach side. You can fish of the Sand Pumping Jetty at a cost of $3.50 each for good catches of Whiting, Taylor, Jew and Bream.
WALKING:Walk along the river or take the short stroll out to the rock wall. Brilliant views of Surfers Paradise exist from the far end of the rock wall especially during dusk. Extreme care must be taken when climbing over the large rocks, keep your children away from the edges as the large boulders are uneven and unsafe. The Sand Pumping Jetty offers brilliant views of Surfers Paradise and the Gold Coast line. Cost $1.50 to enter the jetty $3.50 for people fishing. Children are free. Take a walk out to the end of the jetty at night and take in the majestic views.
