An open beach, further
most south of the Gold Coast, Duranbah is
popular with the surfers due to its ability
to pick up the smallest swell and turn it
into a powerful wave. The beach can have
rips due to the shifting sands and numerous
gutters so remember to always swim between
the flags. There is limited parking especially
when the surf is on and surfers have occupied
all the parks close to the beach, its best
to park along the Tweed River and walk to

the south end of the beach you will find BBQ's,
sheltered picnic areas and toilets or take
the walk up the hill to Point Danger and enjoy
the brilliant views in all directions from
Point Danger viewing platform which offers
full wheel chair access. You can park at the
top of the hill right at the tower.
everywhere else on the Gold Coast is too small,
Duranbah is the place to head. Duranbah has
an uncanny ability to offer a good powerful
wave even on the smallest swell. When the
swell is up the area is best for the experienced
fishing all year round try the beach at dawn
or dusk or fish the tweed bar off the rock
wall for quality catches of all species.
